As one of the leading sports authorities in Malaysia, and by virtue of its relationship with the International Olympic Committee, the Olympic Council of Malaysia exists to develop and protect the Olympic Movement and to promote the Olympic spirit through sport in Malaysia.  The Olympic Council of Malaysia also acts as the co-ordinating body for all sporting organisations in Malaysia, and is responsible for the development of sport at both the elite and mass participation level. In terms of major international sporting events, the Olympic Council of Malaysia has the privilege of selecting and entering athletes to compete in the Olympic Games, Asian Games, SEA Games and Commonwealth Games.

The Olympic Council of Malaysia’s membership comprises the National Sport Associations (NSAs) of Malaysia, which are recognised by their respective international sports federations as the sole governing body of their respective sports in Malaysia. The Olympic Council of Malaysia provides a range of regular services to its members, in the form of advice and assistance, the selection of participants to attend courses, seminars and overseas study tours, and the planning and organisation of multi-sports coaching courses, educational seminars and specialist sports and sports business conferences.
