Tom has a long and successful association with many of the world’s leading global sports properties. Tom’s introduction to the sports business initially came courtesy of ISL Worldwide’s multi-property portfolio, following which Tom moved on to head up FIFA’s commercial legal department ahead of the 2002 FIFA World Cup. During his tenure at FIFA, Tom was often in the media spotlight for his practical approach to issues such as ambush marketing and the growing influence of European Competition Law on major sports properties, but the lasting legacy of his time in Zurich will include the creation of a hugely successful new model for FIFA’s current commercial rights programme and the creation of a dynamic governmental liaison platform for the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups. As a result, Tom was named one of the UK's “Hot 100 lawyers of 2006" by The Lawyer magazine.
After leaving FIFA in 2007, Tom co-founded Wharf House, an independent sports rights agency with offices in Switzerland and Singapore.
