As Malaysia’s hugely influential Sports Commissioner, it should come as no surprise that Dato’ Nik has enjoyed a long career in public service. His career has taken him through many governmental departments (including the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Science Technology and Environment, the Ministry of Primary Industries and the Ministry of Education).
Arriving at the Ministry of Youth and Sports in 2003, as Deputy Secretary General, Dato’ Nik brought with him more than thirty years of governmental experience, an experience he has put to good use in his current role as Sports Commissioner of Malaysia. He has sat on the Steering and Core Sports Committee of National Sports Council, was Joint Chairman of the National Women Games Organising Committee, was Chairman of Le Tour de Langkawi Organising Committee and Joint Chairman of the Champions Youth Cup Organising Committee.
