ASIA SPORTS 2009 is delighted to announce the winning academic paper: A Discussion of the Legal Challenges that face the F.A. Premier League’s distribution of Audio-Visual Rights to the English Premier League in Asia, submitted by Jonathan Bett.

Jonathan is the Manager Legal Affairs at SPORTFIVE Asia, and is responsible for all legal matters relating to SPORTFIVE’s business throughout the Asia-Pacific.  His particular focus is advising on media rights arrangements relating to key sporting events including UEFA EURO 2008, FIFA World Cup 2010 qualification, and the English Premier League. Jonathan was also involved in SPORTFIVE’s recent successful bid to market and distribute the broadcasting rights to the 2014 Winter Olympics and 2016 Summer Olympics.

Prior to joining SPORTFIVE, Jonathan qualified in 2005 as a corporate lawyer with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London, United Kingdom.

Jonathan has a Master of Arts degree in Jurisprudence from Balliol College, Oxford University, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Sports Law from King’s College, London.  He is a practising Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales.
